Year 5
Welcome
Welcome to Year 5 at Renishaw Primary School! This year, we're embarking on an exciting journey together, where we'll dive deep into our curriculum while having loads of fun along the way.
Year 5 is a special time for growth in independence and maturity. Y5's are given more responsibilities. Some tasks might seem small, but they'll help you become more confident and responsible learners, preparing you for the exciting challenges ahead.
At Renishaw Primary School, we believe in nurturing your curiosity and sense of wonder. We'll revisit previous knowledge and build upon it throughout the year, ensuring that you're always challenged and engaged. As we learn about our world, we'll also learn to respect and value it, becoming responsible citizens who care for our planet and our community.

Our trip to Yorvik
We studied the Vikings in Autumn Term, alongside a book by Tony Bradman 'Viking Boy'. During the Yorvik visit, we learnt about life as a Viking and then headed over to 'DIG' to be Archeologists!

We understand the importance of being safe when we access the internet. We love to use ICT in lots of different areas of learning so we have to know if the information we have found is authentic. We can even create music using Scratch!

Part of our RSHE learning at year 5, 'Bullying Matters' includes a very important task; for the children to create a child-friendly Anti-Bullying Policy. The year 5 children began the task, reviewing the previous policy, before editing and sharing with each class for consultation. Classes then contributed and made changes to ensure all children were involved. The Governors have now approved the policy and you can find it by following the link below. Well done children and the wider school community, great teamwork!
