Renishaw Primary School

Nursery

Welcome

I would like to offer you a very warm welcome to Nursery - the start of your child's education here at Renishaw Primary School!

Here in Nursery we learn through play: exploring, investigating, planning and creating! We build on children's communication through high-quality interactions and providing experiences through which children can develop their language.

Throughout their time in Nursery, our children begin to become independent, confident and resilient, building the foundations of the skills needed to become lifelong learners. We provide a safe, nurturing and happy environment that enables our children to thrive.

We offer both 15 and 30 hour places, of which we offer parents the flexibility to choose which days they would like their children to attend. Our morning session is 8:30-11:30am. Our afternoon session is 12:15 - 3:15pm. Our full day session is 8:30-3:15pm.

We are accepting applications for September 2026 - please contact the school office on 01246 432366 or email info@renishaw.derbyshire.sch.uk

Phonics
In Nursery we follow the Little Wandle scheme for Phonics- 'Little Wandle Foundations'.
  • Foundations for Phonics: Two parts- the children play regular oral blending games to really help them 'tune into sounds'. Rhyme Time provides exposure to a bank of familiar nursery rhymes; developing good listening skills, identifying syllables in words and alliteration.
  • Foundations for Reading- we use high quality reading books. Every child hears a story every day.
  • Foundations for Language- this happens all day, every day. We focus on quality talk and interactions with the children.
